What childhood dream still whispers within you? Who did you want to become? What did you long to bring into the world?

Beyond the roles you play every day, at work, with family or among friends, what truly colours your being? Where do you feel that you are genuinely yourself?

The soul mission touches upon something of this nature. It doesn't necessarily present itself as a goal to achieve, but rather as a familiar vibration, something we have carried within us for as long as we can remember.

The Ishtar Key (IK) emerged from my research into karmic astrology. It was already part of my work when I began questioning the difference between the soul mission and the life mission. By looking at it from a new perspective, then testing this hypothesis against different birth charts, I discovered another dimension of the Key: its ability to illuminate the deepest nature of the soul.

Soul mission and life mission: two different movements

For me, the life mission belongs to the present incarnation. In karmic astrology, the lunar nodes allow us to explore this axis of evolution: what we already have at our disposal, the direction in which we are being drawn, and what we are called to build during this lifetime.

The soul mission reveals another path.

It transcends incarnations. It resembles an original flame that the soul carries, develops, confronts with different experiences and expresses in countless ways throughout its evolution.

The life mission is the lamp. The soul mission is the flame that burns within it.

Perhaps this is why the soul mission often feels so familiar. Because it expresses a childhood dream, a need that never truly leaves us, a quality of the soul that we consider ordinary simply because it has always been there.

It is not necessarily a profession, a vocation or some great, visible destiny.

It simply runs through your entire existence.

What is the Ishtar Key?

The Ishtar Key is the result of a specific calculation integrated into the birth chart generated by Astraema. You won't find it anywhere else.

The IK's position on the chart wheel provides a starting point, but like any astrological marker, it should never be analysed in isolation. Its sign, house and relationships with the rest of the birth chart help us understand how this vibration seeks to manifest, what comes naturally to it, what supports it and what may sometimes distort it or challenge its expression.

An interpretation of the Ishtar Key may therefore reveal:

The Key, then, doesn't simply assign you a label.

Someone carrying the same seed as you may experience it in a very different way. For you, its expression may be fluid and conscious. For someone else, it may emerge through a sense of lack, fear or inner struggle.

It is the birth chart as a whole that allows us to understand these nuances.

A deeply intimate vibration

The Ishtar Key doesn't always reveal what is most visible in your life.

Instead, the original seed speaks of what holds a particular inner resonance for you. What your soul feels, desires, suffers, learns and recognises with an intensity that may sometimes go far beyond what you experience in everyday life, through the difficulties you encounter or the crises you go through.

Someone looking at your life from the outside might see only your greatest achievements or your many setbacks. Yet you know that certain experiences affect you more deeply than others, that they repeatedly return to the centre of your concerns, that they can unsettle you, challenge you, but also give you the feeling of being completely yourself.

The seed therefore doesn't simply describe what the soul seeks to experience.

It also reveals what matters deeply to you.

A Love seed doesn't always indicate a life filled with happy relationships. On the contrary, it may make connection, attachment, encounters or separation particularly sensitive experiences.

A Care seed doesn't necessarily mean caring for others. Care may become a central theme through the body, vulnerability, health, the need to support someone or the challenge of accepting inner healing.

A Creation seed isn't limited to artistic expression either. Creating may mean bringing something or someone into existence, building, inventing, giving an idea material form or experiencing the painful inability to do so.

A wound of the soul doesn't necessarily contradict its mission. It may instead reveal an expression of that mission that is still unbalanced or incomplete.

This is also why two people experiencing apparently very similar situations may attach entirely different levels of importance to them.

The Ishtar Key seeks to identify that precise place: the inner space where an experience resonates more deeply.

The soul seeds

First of all, why seeds?

Because a newly formed soul carries, from its very beginning, a vibration that is uniquely its own. This is what I call the original seed.

To understand what this means within Astraema, we need to accept a cosmology somewhat broader than the one presented in traditional astrology textbooks. A soul doesn't emerge from nothing. It would take shape from a spark. Whether that spark comes from another universe, another dimension or even another galaxy is not particularly important to me.

This spark would come from another being, one who, having reached the end of their incarnations in their place of origin, would enter a period of maturation within a cocoon after death. The spark would carry both the imprint of everything that being had worked through over time and the impulse towards what they still longed to experience. It is during this maturation that a new soul would gradually form, carrying its own original seed.

The spark and the seed are therefore not the same thing. The spark precedes the birth of the new soul and forms a legacy that accompanies it throughout its lifetimes. Some of the abilities already acquired may become valuable resources in one lifetime, while in others they remain more discreet or do not need to be called upon.

The seed, meanwhile, is the fundamental vibration that the soul carries throughout its incarnations. You can think of it as the impulse, the desire and the musical score it has chosen to play during its next cycle.

The Astraema method distinguishes six main seeds:

Love — the Heart

This seed explores connection, attachment, union, love for others and for all living things, but also the imbalances that may arise from emotional fusion, dependency or idealisation.

Care — the Touch

It carries the need to protect, repair, relieve suffering and support others. It also learns that caring for another person must never mean forgetting oneself.

Creation — the Breath

It gives form to what did not yet exist. It can be found in the artist, but also in the inventor, the builder, the craftsperson or anyone who transforms an idea into something tangible.

Understanding — the Mind

It observes, analyses, connects ideas and seeks the meaning behind things. Its evolution involves, among other things, placing intelligence at the service of awareness rather than using the mind to disconnect from experience.

Leadership — the Voice

It learns to take a stand, guide others, open a path, assume responsibility or become a source of support without turning authority into domination.

Perversion — the Shadow

This particular seed explores the deepest forms of confrontation with the shadow, power, destruction and their consequences.

Its movement is the reverse of the other seeds, as it follows a very long path from darkness towards light. It therefore passes through alchemical processes of transmutation and redemption.

Such an interpretation requires caution and must be considered within the context of the entire birth chart. You will not find this seed among the results provided by Astraema's analyses. For now, it is enough to know that it exists.

The seeds do not exist in completely separate compartments.

An original seed may be supported by another seed that was already developed or integrated by the being from whom the spark originated. The spark retains its imprint. Other seeds may subsequently become areas of experience or transformation for the new soul.

In this way, the soul mission evolves from one lifetime to the next without losing its original vibration.

Recognising yourself in a different way

Discovering your Ishtar Key sometimes means finding words for something you already knew but had never been able to name.

Why does this experience matter so much to me?

Why do I always find myself returning to this?

Why does this need feel so persistent, even when it doesn't necessarily correspond to what my life is asking me to build?

The Ishtar Key doesn't claim to answer all these questions.

It opens another doorway within the birth chart: one that allows us to look beyond what we are becoming in this incarnation or the direction in which we are moving, and instead explore what, at a deeper level, vibrates through us.
